Custom Aikido Gi for Your Dojo

Every dojo has its own identity, and nothing reflects that identity better than a well-made aikido gi. Whether you’re outfitting a beginner class, a competitive club, or an entire federation, a custom aikido uniform gives your students a professional appearance while staying true to the traditions of the art. We manufacture custom aikido uniforms that dojos can rely on for durability, comfort, and an authentic look — built precisely to the designs and specifications you provide.

Why Choose a Custom Aikido Uniform

Stock aikido gi uniforms are rarely tailored to a dojo’s exact needs. Sizing runs inconsistent across brands, embroidery placement varies, and there’s little room to add the details that set your school apart. A custom aikido gi solves these problems by giving you full control over the elements that matter most. With our custom aikido clothing and uniform manufacturing, you get:

  • Accurate dojo branding with your chosen colors, patches, and embroidery
  • Consistent sizing across the whole roster, from a kids’ aikido uniform to full adult cuts
  • Durable construction built to handle rolling, gripping, and repeated throws
  • A cohesive look that reinforces discipline and dojo pride on the mat

Aikido Uniform Terminology: Keikogi vs. Kimono vs. Gi

Students often ask what the aikido uniform is actually called, and the terminology can be confusing. The uniform itself is properly known as a keikogi, though it’s commonly shortened to “aikido gi” or simply “aikidogi.” Some students also refer to it as a kimono aikido uniform, though a keikogi is cut and constructed quite differently from a traditional Japanese kimono. A complete traditional aikido uniform generally includes;

  • The uwagi — the heavyweight jacket that wraps and ties at the waist
  • Aikido trousers — loose-fitting drawstring pants worn beneath the jacket
  • A belt (obi) denoting rank
  • A hakama aikido uniform overskirt, traditionally worn by yudansha (black belt ranks) or by all students depending on dojo custom

Understanding this terminology helps when ordering, since a “traditional aikido uniform” order may refer to the keikogi alone or the full keikogi-and-hakama set, depending on your dojo’s requirements.

How We Manufacture Your Uniforms

We specialize in bringing customer-submitted designs to life. Rather than creating designs ourselves, we focus on precision manufacturing — translating your artwork, colors, and specifications into finished, high-quality aikido uniforms. Here’s how the process typically works:

  • You submit your design — dojo logos, colors, embroidery text, and any layout requirements
  • We review specifications — fabric weight, weave, cut, sizing, and finishing details are confirmed
  • Production begins — using embroidery, woven patches, or stitched lettering based on your preference
  • Quality checks — every aikido uniform is inspected for stitching accuracy, weave consistency, and fit
  • Delivery to your dojo — packaged and ready for training or competition

Available Customization Options

We understand that no two dojos are alike, which is why our custom aikido gi process supports a wide range of personalization options, including:

  • Fabric selection — lightweight, single-weave, or heavyweight triple-weave cotton
  • Color combinations — traditional white, black, or custom dojo colors
  • Embroidery and patches — dojo crest, student name, or federation emblem
  • Aikido trousers — tapered or wide-leg cuts, drawstring or elastic waist options
  • Hakama styling — pleated panel counts and tie lengths to match tradition
  • Fit by size and gender — men’s, women’s, and youth aikido uniform cuts

Whether you need a lightweight uniform for aikido summer training or a heavyweight traditional aikido uniform for competition and grading, our team can manufacture aikido gi uniforms suited to any age group, rank, or dojo tradition.

Aikido School

Custom Sizing for Each Student

A proper fit matters as much as fabric quality. Our aikido uniform size chart accounts for height, weight, and body type, so you can order confidently for an entire roster — including a women’s aikido uniform cut with a more tailored jacket and shorter sleeve length, and youth sizes scaled proportionally rather than simply shrunk down from adult patterns. Consistent sizing across a full dojo order means every student, regardless of size, ends up in a uniform that moves and fits the way it should.

Built for Performance and Durability

Aikido training puts a uniform through constant stress — gripping, throwing, falling, and repeated washing. That’s why every custom aikido gi we produce uses reinforced stitching and durable weaves designed to hold up session after session. Key performance features include:

  • Reinforced double or triple-stitched seams at high-stress grip points
  • Pre-shrunk, colorfast fabric that holds its shape wash after wash
  • Breathable weave options for comfort during long training sessions
  • Sturdy waist ties and drawstrings built to withstand repeated tying

Aikido Gi vs Kung Fu Uniform and Jiu Jitsu Gi

Compared to a Jiu Jitsu gi, which is cut close to the body and heavily reinforced at the collar and lapel to withstand grappling grips, an aikido uniform is designed looser through the shoulders and torso to allow for the wide, circular arm movements and rolling breakfalls central to aikido technique. Similarly, while a Kung Fu uniform typically favors lightweight, unrestrictive fabric suited to fast striking and kicking, aikido gi fabric is built heavier through the jacket to hold up under constant gripping and throwing.

Who We Work With

Our custom aikido uniforms are trusted by a wide range of schools and organizations, including:

  • Independent dojos and martial arts academies
  • Aikido federations and regional associations
  • University and college aikido clubs
  • Youth and family martial arts programs
  • Instructors and seminar organizers ordering in bulk

No matter the size of your order or the complexity of your design, we’re equipped to manufacture aikido uniforms for sale to dojos of every level, from first-kyu beginners to senior instructors.
