Custom Sportswear Manufacturer for Europe

Ordering custom sports uniforms for a team in Europe shouldn’t mean paying catalogue prices for kit that looks like everyone else’s. European teams contact custom sportswear suppliers like Elite Sport Uniform to escape stock designs. However, ordering from an overseas factory raises fair questions about duty, VAT, sizing and delivery times.

This guide answers how the EU’s GSP + scheme affects import duty on apparel made in Pakistan, what EU sizing and labelling require, realistic lead times, and the mistakes to avoid.

Why European Clubs Are Sourcing Custom Sports Uniforms from Pakistan?

Most European clubs start with the supplier down the road, and for good reason. But once a club needs a full kit in its own design, or a brand wants to launch under its own label, the limits of local options show up quickly. That is why more buyers now go straight to factories in Pakistan.

The prices of a European supplier include a catalogue, a warehouse, a sales team and often a middleman. A Pakistani supplier like Elite Sport Uniform cuts, prints and stitches the garment itself which removes several pricing layers. A sports team manager can ask for a quote from us and compare it with their local supplier on the specification to prove my point.

A supplier like Elite Sport Uniform allows full custom design. We can sublimate your artwork across the whole garment, match your club colours to a Pantone reference and build the cut around your own EU size chart.

Many buyers assume factory production means orders of hundreds. Some manufacturers, including us, start at 10-15 pieces per design, which puts a single team or small club within reach.

Duty and VAT Explained

GSP+ is an EU trade incentive for developing countries. Eligible countries must implement 27 international conventions on human rights, labour rights, the environment and good governance. In return, the EU cuts import duties to zero on more than two thirds of the tariff lines of their exports. Pakistan is one of the current beneficiaries, and the current scheme is valid until 2027. For a club, this means custom sports uniforms made in Pakistan can enter the EU without import duty.

VAT is separate from duty, and you pay it even when duty is zero. The destination country’s import VAT is usually settled at clearance. We quote a single delivered price per garment, with freight, clearance and VAT included, so the courier collects nothing on arrival.

Norway and Switzerland

They sit outside the EU customs union, and their rules differ:

  • Switzerland: Import duty on clothing is zero. Industrial tariffs were abolished on 1 January 2024, regardless of the goods’ origin. VAT still applies, currently at a standard rate of 8.1%.
  • Norway: Duty is not automatically zero. Most clothing carries a duty rate of 10.7%, plus 25% VAT. Norway runs its own GSP scheme, and duty-free clothing applies only to GSP+ countries. The rate for your garments depends on the commodity code, so we confirm it before quoting.

Which Sports We Make Uniforms For?

Every uniform is made to your own design, with all-over sublimation as standard. Fabric weight (GSM) matters as much as design, so here is what we use for each sport.

EU Sizing, Fit and Labelling

European clubs rarely use one-size system. We grade every order to your chart, whether it’s S-XXL, German numeric sizes (46-56 for men, 34-44 for women) or children’s height sizes (128-176).

Men’s, women’s and youth blocks are cut separately, not scaled down from one pattern. If you don’t have a chart, we issue one for sign-off before the mockup is finalised.

European players usually want a slimmer cut than North American kit. We set this at the pattern stage, either from your chart or from a garment you send us to measure. Finished pieces are checked to within ±1-1.5 cm of the specification.

Quality and Certifications

Anyone can put a logo on a website. We would rather tell you what each certification covers and what we can show you to prove it.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

This tests textiles for harmful substances, which matters for kit worn against the skin, especially children’s sizes. We can share the certificate copy and its number, and you can check the number with OEKO-TEX directly.

BSCI

This one is often misunderstood. amfori BSCI does not issue certifications; suppliers receive audit ratings that reflect their level of compliance with the Code of Conduct.

ISO 9001

This certifies our quality management system, meaning documented processes for how we check and correct our work.

GRS Recycled Polyester

The Global Recycled Standard applies to recycled-content fabric. It is available on request for jerseys, leggings and tees.

Bulk Ordering Process and Timeline

From your first message to kit in your hands, allow about five to seven weeks. Here is how it works.

  • Send Your Brief: Tell us the garment list with quantities, your crest and colours (vector artwork if possible), a size chart or size breakdown, Pantone references, label artwork in your languages and the delivery address.
  • Free Mockup, within 24 hours: We return a digital mockup showing every placement. Revisions are free until you approve.
  • Sample (optional): A physical sample takes 5-7 days plus courier. It is charged at sample cost and credited back against your bulk order. We recommend one for a new size chart or a recycled fabric.
  • Bulk Production, 10-15 Business Days After Approval: Printing, cutting, stitching, in-line and final quality checks, labelling and packing. Express production of 7-12 days is available at additional cost, for example for a cup run or a late-confirmed sponsor.
  • Delivery: DHL, FedEx or UPS takes 5-10 days, with duty and VAT settled in the delivered price. For pallets moving to an EU warehouse, sea freight takes 3-6 weeks.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Ordering Bulk Custom Sports Uniforms

Most problems with custom kit come from the brief, not the factory. These four are the ones we see most.

  • Skipping the Sample: A digital mockup shows the design, but not how the fabric feels or fits. For a new size chart, a new fabric or a recycled option, a physical sample costs little and is credited back against your bulk order.
  • Ordering Too Late: Bulk production takes 12-15 business days, plus delivery. Approve artwork in June for an autumn season, not August. Express production exists but costs extra.
  • Unclear Pantone References: “Club blue” means something different on every screen. Send Pantone codes so the colour is matched and filed, and a reorder next season prints to the same standard.
  • Unclear Label Artwork: Send your labels as vector files with the wording checked in each language. A spelling error on a printed label cannot be fixed after productions.

Conclusion

Ordering custom sports uniforms from an overseas factory is simpler than it looks. Check that your supplier can prove origin with a REX statement, work to your own size chart, label in your language and show real certificates. Then plan your order backwards from your first match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not in the EU. Apparel made in Pakistan enters the EU duty-free under the GSP+ scheme, backed by a REX statement on origin. Import VAT in your country still applies, and we include it in the delivered price, so the courier collects nothing on arrival.

Courier delivery from Pakistan to Germany takes 5-10 days. Add 15-25 business days of production after you approve the design, and a typical order arrives five to seven weeks after sign-off. Sea freight takes 3-6 weeks and suits pallets going to a warehouse.

From 10-15 pieces per design, so a single team or small club can order.

Yes. We grade every order to your own chart, including S-XXL, German numeric sizes and children’s height sizes, with a slimmer European cut set at the pattern stage. If you don’t have a chart, we issue one for sign-off before the mockup is finalised.

We remake it free of charge. The remake goes into production within 3 days of your report.

No, because both sit outside the EU customs union. Switzerland charges no import duty on clothing, though 8.1% VAT applies. Norway’s duty is not automatically zero: most clothing carries 10.7% duty plus 25% VAT, and the exact rate depends on the commodity code. We confirm it before quoting..
